Recently RT - Yachtbau, Germany / Slovenia, with whom Van de Stadt Design has developed an excellent relationship during more than 15 years of co-operation, commissioned us to design and build a 107 ft yacht, "Eos", for a German client.
The brief was to design a handsome-looking offshore cruising yacht that could be handled with a minimum number of crew, and with a high degree of independent operation of the various components so as to increase safety and comfort. Further criteria included a fuel capacity for a 4000-NM range
under engine, and a maximum draft of 2.75 m.
To meet these criteria we designed a low-resistance, stable hull form with moderate sheer and overhangs and a long waterline to give good speed potential and form stability. The bulbous shape of the keel ensures a very low center of gravity of the ballast, while the end plate provides maximum
lift. Under less stringent design criteria, however, it would be advisable to opt for more draft. Read more »»»
